Tidal Dash - University 'Rapid Ideation' Project
'Tidal Dash' is available on Windows for free - download from itch!
This was a game developed as part of a rapid ideation project on my master's degree in Indie Game Development. We had two weeks to make a game on the theme of 'Fish!'.
I had a great time putting this together. It's also one of my first projects in 3D!
The gameplay is similar to a traditional endless runner. It scales indefinitely - getting faster and more difficult the longer you stay alive! The hardest part of development was actually getting the small swimming animations to play. I had an issue with the animator component interfering with a player movement script - it required some deductive research but eventually I had it working by moving the animator and player script to separate objects and restructuring the player game object into a hierarchy.
Most the art was sourced from asset packs but I had a fun time customising the collision hitboxes, making some changes to the model scaling, and applying custom materials to change the colours of things.
Tidal Dash is only my second publically available title so I am still all-ears to any kind of feedback, please don't hesistate to share your thoughts! Cheers -
